A beginner-friendly overview of the rules, card types, and game flow.
1. What is the One Piece Card Game?
One Piece Proxy Printer is a free web tool for One Piece Card Game players. Paste your deck list, choose a card back, and download a print-ready PDF — no account or software needed. You can also design fully custom cards (Leader, Character, Event, Stage, Don!!) and create decorative playmats, all from your browser.
What you need for one game
1 Leader Card per player
A 50-card deck that matches your Leader's colour(s)
1 DON!! deck of exactly 10 DON!! cards
Up to 4 copies of any one card number in your deck
2. Card Types Explained
There are five types of cards in the One Piece Card Game:
👑
Leader Cards
Every deck has exactly one Leader. It sets your starting life total (4 or 5), your power (usually 5,000), your deck's colour(s), and a unique ability. Leaders can attack each turn and can be attacked — when a player's life hits 0, they lose the game.
⚔️
Character Cards
The core of every deck. Each Character has a Don!! cost, a power value, an optional counter value used to block attacks, and an effect. Characters are played to your field, where they attack the opponent or defend your Leader.
⚡
Event Cards
One-shot spells played from your hand. Pay the Don!! cost, resolve the effect, then trash the card. Many Events also have a Trigger effect — a bonus ability that fires automatically when the card is revealed from your life area during an opponent's attack.
🏛️
Stage Cards
Persistent field cards that stay in play and apply a continuous effect to the game. Only one Stage can be active in your field at a time — playing a new one replaces the old. They represent iconic locations from the One Piece world.
💎
Don!! Cards
The resource engine of every deck. Each turn you add Don!! cards to your pool (max 10). Spend them to play Characters and Events, or attach them to any of your Characters or Leader to boost their power by +1,000 per card attached until end of turn.
3. The Six Colours
Every card belongs to one or more colours. Your deck must match your Leader colour(s). Each colour has a distinct playstyle.
🔴 Red — Aggro
Highly aggressive. Flood the board with cheap Characters and attack hard. Great for beginners. Luffy, Shanks, and Ace are iconic Red leaders.
🔵 Blue — Control
Returns cards to hand and disrupts the opponent's strategy. Blue plays defensively and denies resources. Nami and Crocodile are classic Blue leaders.
🟢 Green — Ramp & Tempo
Rests DON!! cards to play Characters early and generate momentum. Green decks surprise opponents with unusual timing. Kid and Law are popular Green leaders.
🟡 Yellow — Life Manipulation
Uses Life cards as a resource — trashing them for powerful effects. Explosive but requires careful management. Big Mom and Yamato are known Yellow leaders.
🟣 Purple — Cost Reduction
Manipulates DON!! cards to play expensive characters cheaply. Complex but very rewarding. Kaido is the defining Purple leader.
⚫ Black — Removal & Power
K.O.s opponents Characters and plays big-power units. Value-oriented, controls the board. Sakazuki (Akainu) and Blackbeard are top Black leaders.
4. Setting Up the Game

Game start procedure
Shuffle your deck and place your Leader, Deck, and DON!! deck in their zones. Leader faces up.
Play rock-paper-scissors — winner chooses who goes first or second.
Each player draws 5 cards. You may mulligan once (shuffle your hand back, redraw 5).
Take cards from the top of your deck equal to your Leader Life value and place them face-down in your Life area.
The first player begins.
5. Turn Flow
Every turn follows the same 5 phases in order:
① Refresh PhaseSet all your rested (sideways) cards back to active (upright). Return all attached DON!! cards back to your Cost Area.
② Draw PhaseDraw 1 card from your deck. (The player going first skips this on turn 1.)
③ DON!! PhaseTake 2 DON!! cards from your DON!! deck and place them in your Cost Area. (First player only gets 1 DON!! on their very first turn.)
④ Main PhasePlay Character, Event, and Stage cards by paying their cost. Attach DON!! cards to boost power. Declare attacks with your Leader and/or Characters.
⑤ End PhaseYour turn ends. Rest any attached DON!! cards. Pass to your opponent.
Attacking
When you declare an attack, your attacker rests (turns sideways). The opponent can respond by playing an Event with a Counter value to boost their defender power. If the attacker power exceeds the defender power, the attack hits:
Hitting the Leader with Life remaining → opponent takes the top Life card into their hand
Hitting the Leader with 0 Life → you win!
Hitting a Character → that Character is K.O. (sent to Trash)
💡 Active vs Rested: Upright cards are active and can attack. Once a card attacks or is used, it rests (turns 90°) and cannot attack again until the Refresh Phase.
6. How to Win
You win the game when either of these happens:
You successfully attack your opponent Leader when they have 0 Life cards remaining.
Your opponent needs to draw a card but has no cards left in their deck.
